All due respect, the staff were all very attentive and welcoming. I love the history behind the restaurant too although I understand now why some reviews are saying the food is overrated. It’s true, there the chicken was not juicy at all, only saving grace was the egg and the seasoning provided at your table. Just not worth the ¥5000+ price tag for dinner

It is a pleasant experience eating at legendary 250 years old restaurant. The hospitality is great and it is a traditional tatami style, so you need to take off your shoes before coming in.The food is a bit of let down for me. Let me break it down here:1. The egg, it is quite a spectacular tasting egg but i have a similar egg in much cheaper restaurant. 2. The Meat. This is the biggest let down. It is tough and not juicy. Although it went very well with the egg.3. The Rice. I personally think the rice should be higher quality here. The cheapest meal cost 1200 yen and can go up to 2600 yen. Although I am quite enjoy eating here, my biggest complaints is the price. Maybe it is the cost of eating a it of history here. Nonetheless, I still suggest people to come and try at least once.
